About Us

We had an exciting vision, a long-term goal, to grab people’s attention and appeal to their self-interest (that is their health care). This is the strategic foundation upon which everything is based. One has to stand for something, articulate that vision in under a half-minute, and then support it with a great story. Yes, for example, we focus on the gaps at Health Care System. Remember there are many Gaps still which are unsolved, and if one can take care of 1% of that area yes, one will be an absolute winner. .

We dare to be different and we have the courage to appear unique in a positive, non-flaky way, then our promotional marketing automatically becomes more effective. Most entrepreneurs are way too timid and non-effective. Carefully calculated controversy can get you noticed in a major way. Priceless! Just make sure it doesn’t get out of control.  Are you communicating in another language — i.e. techno-babble — that few people understands, or will have the patience to follow? Of course we use clear, declarative, easy-to understand words and language, whether it is English or Telugu or any other Indian Language.

We manufacture and sell plant based medicines, and follow the authentic processes that are well documented according to the international standards, in manufacturing medicines. It has been proven that we are good at this.

Alakananda Herbals is following the WHO (world Health Organization) guidelines Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): main principles for pharmaceutical products (1), its supporting and supplementary guidelines were developed to address specific issues connected with the manufacture of certain types of pharmaceutical products. WHO issued the Supplementary guidelines, for the manufacture of herbal medicinal products (2) in 1996. Alakananda Herbals is acknowledging and also understands the processes involved in the second volume of the WHO compendium on Quality assurance of pharmaceuticals (3). Related WHO documents such as Guidelines for the assessment of herbal medicines (4), General Guidelines for methodologies on research and evaluation of traditional medicine (5), Quality control methods for medicinal plant materials (6), Guidelines on good agricultural and collection practices for medicinal plants (7) etc.

WHO’s good manufacturing practice (GMP): main principles for pharmaceutical products (1) has been updated in 2003 (8, 9). Around the turn of the millennium, various product specific Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines covering herbal medicines were developed by several WHO Member States, and a regional body such as the European Union. They covered several issues relevant to the production and quality control of herbal medicines in more detail. For this reason, within the framework of the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy: 2000- 2005, revision of the present supplementary guidelines was decided, which was also endorsed by the WHO Expert Committee on Pharmaceutical Specifications in its sessions held in 2002, 2003, and 2004. Accordingly Alakananda Herbals has set up its manufacturing plants – first at Hyderabad, and then shifted it to Jorethang, Sikkim and then again came back to Hyderabad, Telangana.

What’s your ‘Next Big Thing’? Apart from your manufacturing concept, it helps to show you have something phenomenal in the pipeline (proven improved products). It doesn’t have to currently exist — it can just be in your head — but it must have a connection to your initial business plan. For many investors, this is extra icing on the cake. (Remember those TV infomercials? “But wait, there’s more!!!”)  Most online investor presentations (decks) are boring compilations of facts, figures, projections, etc.

But where’s the ‘sell’? Only facts and evidence based authentic proven process and proven medicines shall sell. Sometimes “selling” usually becomes non-existent that is selling decreases because of non-standard processes and hence the market-demand of the Herbal Medicine Domain itself may also get affected and suddenly surface as another missed opportunity. All such different markers and pointers are daunting at the market place and while we are nurturing only proven processes and our own R&D products.
